GoFundMe Should not be one’s life insurance plan.
We thought it was important to tackle one of the more recent trends among those who lose close relatives and do not have the funds to pay the cost of their final expenses; Samaritan allows partnering community donors to sponsor participants that are unable to afford costs associated with final experience.
More people in our society are turning to GoFundMe campaigns to help cover their loved one’s funeral expenses. They seem to think that the donors are going to be there to chip in toward a funeral and burial, so they do not have to worry about having life insurance. This has proven to be a false narrative time and time again.
The problem with the GoFundMe strategy is that it is uncertain how much a campaign is going to raise, and it puts a significant amount of stress on family members who are already dealing with the grieving process. Join us in our efforts to help reduce the burden so that families can grieve without having to scramble for last minute funeral costs.
